Post subject: Help with tall-case antique clock.
I am hoping this forum can help me identify and perhaps suggest the value of this clock. Here is what I know about it so far.
The face says "BIGELOW KENNARD & CO, INC." Tha cabinet is mahogany with a top to bottom glass pane in the door. There are 6 tubes, large brass pendulum and three brass weights (one that weighs 20.4 lbs, and two that weigh 13.6 lbs each). Movement is made by Jacques of Baden and is numbered 315891. The clock was originally sold by Bigalow and Kennard & Co, Boston, MA and bought new by my family in, I believe, the early 1900’s. Minimal signs of wear to the cabinet (spire at top broke off but we have it safely stored).
The dial is very fancy with a second hand. The face has an etched background and brass numbers. Original hour, minute and second hands. Brass marked Germany. Has Westminster and Trinity Chime on six bells chime switch. Silent and strike switch and silent and hour strike switch. Movement is in excellent working condition; however, weights need to be re-strung. Beautiful sounding gong. Thanks in advance. The experts on this site are amazing.
