Post subject: Hermie stops
Have a Hermie 8 tube that stop's every once in a while. It only operate's 6 mo's out of the year, sits idle the rest. I think it needs a lube job but only 4 yrs old should be able to go another year or so.
Nothing's changed, worked well for 4 of the 6 mo years, this is sudden..
Ideas???
Thanks John[/i]

Generally speaking, the movement should be oiled every 1 to 3 years (and cleaned every 3 to 5 years). More then likely, a good oiling would be just what the doctor orders to begin troubleshooting. If dust has built up in the existing oil, however, this could also be the problem (as this could gum up movement operation). You may wish to start with a good cleaning, if this is the case, and then give the movement fresh lubrication. As with a motor vehicle, good maintenance is the key to longevity.
