Post subject: Hermle Chime Synchronization
I have a clock with an FHS movement mfr date 1970, chime 340-020. Everything works great except that the chime is 2 hours out of sequence. That is, at 12 o-clock the clock chimes 10 or at 8 o-clock the clock chimes 6. It chimes 2 hours less than the actual time. Is there a fix I can perform or should this be taken to an expert? Thanks for any help.

You should be able to fix this. Remove the cap nut which secures the minute hand. Next remove the minute hand. Remove the hour hand and re-mount the hand so that it is 2 hours before the current time (to match your chimes). Re-mount the minute hand and cap nut.
You may now advance the minute hand of the movement to the current time (making certain to stop rotating the hands during any chime cycle). Once any chime cycle (whether quarter or full hour chime) has completed, you may continue to rotate the hand. If this does not correct the problem, then an expert may be the next best option.
