Post subject: How to Find This Kind of Chiming Clock
Aloha,
I have had the most challenging time trying to locate a gentle, simple, bim bam chaming mantle clock that can be heard on movies such as Pride and Prejudice, Emma, and Wives and Daughters.
The closest I can find was listed on EBay, but the seller pulled it off the auction today However, if you could go to YouTube and listen to the audio of this chime, maybe someone out there could help direct me to finding a clock that has this very sweet, soft bell-like chime.
About half way thru the link below, the minute hand is moved so you can hear the bell chime ---
Thanks to everyone for trying to understand and help me!

Sounds like you want an antique european clock, some makers come to mind are Japy Freres, or Marti. These makers have a simple bell strike or gong movement.

Post subject: Bim Bam
I listened three time and all I heard was a squeak. A bim bam is two steel rods that are struck by wooden or brass hammers and generally do not have a bell like sound, they are more of a "gong" and generally sound flat.
They were generally known as "Hump Backs" because of the the shape of the clock.
I have a Sessions and a Gilbert that I would sell if you are interested.
Regards
Joe
