I have an Ingraham Gingerbread clock, made in Bristo, CT, from around the turn of the century. I love the clock and it's kept pretty good time and worked well during the 5 years I've had it.

But, our new house has a first floor master bedroom and the chimes would keep us up all night, so I've not run the clock at all since moving in.

I don't know a lot about clocks, but know enough to wind both sides (clock and chimes) the same number of turns.

In order to not use the chimes but run the clock is it ok to just wind the clock side? If not, anyone know of another way to run this w/o the chimes?

Thanks Very Much,
Andrew

I would wind both sides, but I would move the striking hammer away from the gong, or remove it if possible.
