We have a Howard Miller Grandfather ( 34 years old) that chimes the wrong hour. It chimes an hour before the actual time( eg. 1 o'clock when it is actually 2). It has worked well up until a month ago. We went on a 3 week trip and , when we returned, the clock needed to be restarted.

No problem, I thought. I just waited until an hour after the time shown on the clock face, pulled on the three chains to raise the weights, set the pendulum in motion,and moved the minute hand forward 15 minutes at a time. I stopped at each quarter hour to ensure it was chiming the correct quarter hour. When I got to the hour mark, it chimed the correct quarter hour, but the wrong hour. I t has not self corrected since then.

How to I get it back on the right hour?

move the hour hand forward one hour - it is friction tight on the pipe.
