Post subject: Howard Miller Webster 613-559 w/ Hermle 1050-020
Hi,
I am a complete newbie to clocks. I recently purchased this clock at a local shop. It is a used Howard Miller Webster 613-559 w/ Hermle 1050-020 mechanism. The case is 20 years old but the mechanism is new (it has date code "V" (2009?). I purchased the clock for $600 (is that a good deal?).
Please critique the Westminster chime; for some reason I do not think it sounds like it should. Am I correct? Does it need adjustment? Thanks for your comments!
The movement itself costs around $330. Is $600 a good price, that's up to you, it is a nice looking clock.
The westminster chime melody sounds good, however the counting of the hours seem to sound strange. I would make sure the hammers are striking the rods squarely.

Thanks for the feedback.
I'm glad to hear you think the Westminster chime sounds OK. I thought it was off on that 4th "ding." It sounds like it hits too quick after the previous ding. Is that something that can be adjusted? The hammer that hits the 4th "ding" doesn't go as high as the other ones, I don't know whether that is normal or not.

Very nice clock, congrats. The "Webster" model is still manufactured and is about $1,200 new:
