Post subject: I don't know where to begin
Oh, help me! I don't know where to begin. I have an existing clock that I love which has now just stopped. I have followed the instructions to remove the screw cap(?) from the top of the hands. Unfortunately, it appears as though the hands have been riveted in place. There is no hex nut adjacent to the clock face, just a round bushing. I'm hesitant to be to forceful in my attempt at removal - I don't want to damage the clock face. Help! The clock face is a thin metal (1/16th") with a painted decal/insert over it. The face is then encased in a wooden frame with a glass front. I love this clock and would like it to tell time again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Try to pull the hands off of the center shaft with the cap nut removed. They may appear riveted, but should not be if the cap nut was required to secure the minute (larger) hand. The hour hand should be a friction fit (and can be pulledl off the shaft as well).
Some movements have a bushing instead of the usual hex nut (so this does not seem out of the ordinary). Simply un-screw the bushing after removal of hands, and you should be able to remove the clock movement.
