Hi all, I need to replace a battery operated movement in a clock.
The movement has a pendulum also.
This is what the marking that are on the back of the movement:
Quartz
Takane
NO(0) Jewels
Made in USA

The clock has special meaning for me.
I got it when I raised money for MDA to find a cure for Muscular Dystrophy.

Thanks, Phil

Luckily, it is easy to replace the quartz movement. Also, most quartz movements are (for the most part) universal and rather inexpensive ($5 for non-pendulum, $10 for pendulum version).

First, see if you can remove the existing movement. You will need to begin by removing the hands from the movement. Next, there should be some type of hex nut (or bushing) on the front surface of the clock face (which secures the movement to the clock face). Remove this nut/bushing so that you can remove the movement. There will (more than likely) be a threaded portion on the center shaft of the movement. Measure this to compare to movements which could work as replacements. Also measure your (longer) minute hand - from the center of the mounting hub to the end of the hand.

You can also take some general (overall) dimensions of your movement for comparison. From this point, you are welcome to check out various quartz movements on the Klockit website. You may also contact Klockit with your existing movement information, and we can help you select a movement. You may even contact Klockit to help you determine what movement you should use.

The Klockit website link below will provide links to help topics which better illustrate the process described above. Check out subjects such as: "Measure movement hand shaft length"; "Measure pendulum length" (also applicable); "Assemble a quartz movement..."
