Ok, original message didn't show for some reason? I need a powerful movement to power an acrylic gear clock ive made. High torque movements are not enough torque. I have a large flip clock with a sloenoid motor turning some reduction gears

http://www.lazyboneuk.com/product_images/f/818/main95a_62852__18350_std.png

It is more than powerful enough as i connected a string with weight to the minute wheel which it lifted without slowing down. I don't want to ruin my flip clock though. Does anyone know where i can get this type of movement? or what they are called?. I have been searching the web for days! All I can find is plastic high torque movement which are only good for counter balanced hands and stepper motors with microcontrollers or main powered clocks. I need it to be battery powered and run as near as poss to 1rph however i can make more gearing if necessary.

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you need an actual motor. Some older gear clock kits (from the 80's/90's) used a small electric (plug in) motor to drive the hands and keep proper time (I suppose the wood gears ensured this - although my experience with these types of kits is general at best).

I know that the motors we used to carry have long been discontinued by our vendors, but you may be able to find something out there via auction sites. The kit we carried years ago which used this motor was "The Fisherman Gear Clock kit". I also know that this vendor made other wood gear clock kits which also utilized the same motor. I do not know if this motor would be powerful enough, but may be worth looking into if you can find one out there.
