Post subject: I need help!!
I am really hoping someone out there might be able to help me...
I am trying to double the speed of a clock for my latest art project.
Is this possible to do??
I have no experience in clock making so I would really appreciate any responses on my dilemma
Cheers,

I am not aware of any measures to double the speed of a quartz (battery-operated) movement. It might be possible with a pendulum mechanical (key-wind) movement, by raising the pendulum bob as far as it would go (or removing the pendulum all together). In theory, raising the pendulum bob would make the movement gain time in a 24 hour period, allowing the movement to run faster than normal. If you remove the pendulum, the movement would run really fast. Quartz movements lack this adjustment feature. Since pendulums are simply for show on quartz movements, and have no part in regulating time-keeping, adjustments to a quartz pendulum would have no effect.
If you only need to run a single hand, you could consider a continuous sweep movement. In this way, you could use only the second hand on the movement. The second hand would make a continuous rotation once every 60 seconds (it will not "step" each second as a normal movement would). While this is not twice the speed of a quartz time-keeping unit, it may lend itself as an alternative for your art project. See the link below if this sounds like it may work for you...
