Post subject: Jauch 96 tired
We have a 1974 Colonial grandfather with the above movement. It isn't working!! Over the past 2 1/2 years we have spent about $600 on it. I know from researching that Jauch is no longer in business. Anyone have any idea on finding a new movement that will work in this clock? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Seems a shame to give up on it.

If you are to go with a new movement, understand that the current dial, pendulum, and weights you have will (more than likely) not be able to be used with the new movement. Also understand that you may have to modify the seat board location for the new movement. I think it is best to begin with general inside case dimensions and compare them with the overall provided dimensions for various movements. This will give you a rough idea of what movements have the potential to fit. From that point, you will want to look at dial selections for the ideal movement and compare them to your original dial (most GF clock dials are about 15-1/2"H X 11"W). If you find a dial and movement that could potentially work, then you will want to get the movement specifications to figure out what changes may have to be made. Klockit offers specifications sheets (as a free PDF download) on all floor clock movements. You may also contact technical support for addtional assistance for determining the best movement replacement.
