Recently found subj table clock. Needs some wiring repair, batteries and a lot of cleaning. Mechanically clock seems sound. Not a clock repairman but can probably handle re-wiring. Which battery should I get and where? Best method for cleaning badly corroded brass? Tks for any assistance until yr better paid.

I suspect that this is a Kundo ATO clock (early transistor). These were made in several styles, some of them on the same frames and styles as their 400 day/anniversary clocks.
All of them used a specially designed 1.5 volt flat battery pack that fits under the base of the clock. These are still available from suppliers such as Merritts Antiques or Timesavers and probably elsewhere. Both firms also sell an adaptor to replace that flat pack (which is expensive) so that conventional AA cells can be used to power the clock instead.
Originally the brass cases on these clocks were lacquered to protect the finish. Over time aggressive cleaning as well as environment wears the protective coating away and the brass tarnishes. In some cases it does corrode. Metal polish and elbow grease are about the only things that you can use to try and restore the appearance. Afterwards you can use a spray lacquer to preserve the finish.

I would suggest a piece of fine wire wool to remove corrosion on brass and re-lacquer as above.
