Post subject: Kienzle Bracket Clock Escapements?
Hey folks, I have a small Kienzle Bracket Clock, 2 jewels, 563a/011, made in Germany. It has a balance wheel somewhat like the Seth Thomas Legacy Bracket clock. Except on the Seth Thomas it is what I think is called a straight-line pin pallet with the escapement directly connected. On this Kienzle clock the escapement is on a cylinder and seems to move totally independent of the pallet or balance wheel. Its almost like a washer or spring is missing. The balance wheel seems to work properly and the pallet(if thats what it is) moves back and forth but makes little or not contact with the escapement even though they are both attached to same cylinder. If I move the balance wheel with my finger the escapement may engage once before the wheel stops moving. Like I say they are on the same cylinder and it seems to me they should be connected some way or other. The Seth Thomas I'm familiar with is one solid piece that moves with the balance wheel. Well, I'm not even sure I asked the question so it can be understood. I, obviously, have limited knowledge. If someone wants to give this a shot I'll appreciate it, and if not, I'll understand that also. Thanks.
