Post subject: Kundo Solid Brass 400 day mantle clock
i am wondering if anyone could tell me a little about this clock. It is made by Kundo, solid brass, square shaped with bevelled galss to the front and sides. the glass also has an etched fan pattern in each corner. It is a 4 ball pendulum and the face sits on two scrolled feet. The suspension spring has snapped but the movement is all freely working. I was wondering if this is a viable repair or not and as to a rough age and value of this clock. any info.would be most appreciated

As always pictures go a long way in helping with identification. Also any markings that can be seen on the movement would help too.
Suspension units are available for these clocks for repairs. Without a little more information it is difficult to date this clock. The production of Kundo mechanical movement anniversary clocks ended in 1976, although they continued to produce quartz type movements.
With a few exceptions the value of later model (post WWII) anniversary clocks has not increased dramatically. I believe their day is yet to come. This is primarily due to the flood of 400 day/anniversary clocks exported to North America after WWII plus many that were brought back by returning servicemen. To date, very early anniversary clocks (late 1800's-early 1900's) are those most sought after by collectors and tend to command high prices.

You need to replace de suspension. Go to the "meadows and passmore" website. They sell all models. To know the exact size either you send to them an exact copy of the back plate of your clock, holes, screws and inscriptions, or you buy the "horolovar guide"(price 20.90£, a bit expensif if you use it once, but maybe you can ,as I did, buy some other second hands clocks) in witch you'l find all the models (more than 400) of anniversary clocks with their back plates in size 1/1 so you can choose the right model you need. I aleady have got 6 clocks. 3 of them needed a suspension and I have found them at Passmore.
I am not a clock repairer and did not have special trouble to do the work. One of my clocks is a KUNDO just as you discribe in your message. Under the clock there is a note "KIENINGER & OBERGFELL" The back plate is n° 1407A (this is not not writed on the clock but is to find in the Horolovar Guide) and the clock needs the suspension n° "Unit 5E or 5F" (price 7 £). Be carefull Kundo has 5 differents models needing diferent suspension. Good luck. Happy New Year.
Sorry for my poor english.

At the risk of hijacking your thread, I have a similar question.
I just bought a Kundo clock today from a pawn shop, and I think I got a good deal on it. It's currently running and is in good shape. A few scrapes in the paint, a mild patina on the brass. I've found a picture of an identical one on the internet that I can email if someone can post it for me (sorry, I never got the hang of posting pics). Any volunteers? I'd love to see if anyone knows anything about the age and value.
