Post subject: Lagging hour hand in electric clock
I am a radio guy and active on antique radio forum but have not dealt with clocks. I electronically restored a nice Benrus clock radio. It keeps accurate time but after a day or two, the hour hand begins to lag behind and eventually points before the correct hour. The electricity comes through a part of the radio. May I have your expert advice? Thanks

Unless the hour hand is dragging on the dial, is loose on the movement hour pipe, or there is interference from the minute hand, I can't think of a reason why it would not continue to indicate the correct hour.
Most electric clock movements were built by one or two companies (mostly Telechron) and were used in clock radios by any of the radio manufacturers. Unfortunately none of them are still in business and today's clock radios all have digital movements. Replacements for analog movements are almost impossible to obtain. Anyone who specializes in restoring electric clocks often has to resort to becoming a scavenger.
