Any other reasons a mechanical 8 day spring driven drum clock movement with cylinder escapement, would progressively lose time as the clock runs down, than needing a new mainspring as one has been fitted but has not rectified the problem.

depends how good the service was. was it fully serviced?
just fitting a mainspring won;t make it go any better. cylinder escapements are very ackward to work with sometimes and NEVER on average keep good time.

however they are usually consistant so must be something wrong with thr clock elsewhere.
