Post subject: Mantel Clock Identification Request for Help
I recently found this clock in an antique store in Livingston, TX. Normally I thoroughly research any clock BEFORE I put down any money, but as you can see from the photos it is unique. Consequently we made the deal before I could find out anything, turns out, I'm drawing a complete and total blank on this thing. So...I need some help. I would love to know if any of you have seen anything like this, possibly know who the maker is/was and possibly the circa. I have some ideas but would rather not taint anyones opinion with my own until this thread has run for a few days.
The face has what I interperate as the name "Lodeson" in script. The only letter I'm a little iffy on is the "L", could be a "T" or my wife thinks possibly a "J". Searching all spellings online comes up with the same results, nothing.
The movement has only the number "13" stamped into the lower left corner, no makers mark or hallmark visible on the outside of the movement. I'm tempted to assume the "13" might be the year of the movement, i.e. 1913. As the clock runs well and we are traveling for the winter, I have not removed the movement nor do I intend to in the near future.
The key arbors (3) are larger than a standard ST, Waterbury or Ingraham leading me to believe this is a European movement (& case?).
The case measures 28" wide x 10" high x 5.5" deep.
The stamp "13" is just to the left of the lower right hand corner of the movement.
If anybody has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
Thanks,
Joe
