What is the maximum hand size for the standard quartz movement? When should I consider using a high torque movement? Does continuous sweep make a difference in this area?

Hello ~ Hope I can help answer some of your questions:

Maximum hand size for standard quartz movement? If you are referring to length, standard quartz movements are able to accommodate a minute hand length up to 7" or less.

High Torque? If your minute hand length should need to be longer than 7", you will require a high torque movement. The movement delivers more power to a counter-balanced minute hand to ensure no loss of timekeeping.

Continuous Sweep? Continuous sweep really would not make a difference in this area. Think of a continuous sweep movement in this way: Standard movements have a step sweep action, where the second hand "steps" to mark every second. This creates a more audible "tick-tock" as the clock operates. With a continuous sweep movement, there is no step action in the second hand. This results in a movement that operates much more quietly than standard movements.
