Post subject: Mini Quartz vs Regular Size
Hello,
I was wondering if there is any other difference between the mini-quartz movements and the regular size ones (other than their size obviously). If I can fit a mini-quartz into my clock, why would I consider the regular size model that's heavier, more expensive, and requires more battery power? Does it have something to do with driving the hands?

You should apply whichever is the better option for your clock. There should be no real difference between movements (unless otherwise noted).
In answer to your question - - I assume that a mini quartz movement would only have so much power to drive a certain length hand. Standard quartz movements can accommodate a minute hand that is 7" in length at most - but nothing longer than that. If the hand should happen to be longer, the movement may not have enough torque to drive the hand - resulting in constant time loss. This is where high torque quartz movements come into play - as they have more power to drive a hand which is longer than 7". There are different movement options for differing applications.
For the mini-quartz movement, you may want to check and see if there is any sort of minute hand length limitation. If you are looking at finished mini-quartz clock inserts (which is different from a movement in that it is a completely assembled mini -clock), then this would not be a concern. Inserts are an all-inclusive clock movement requiring no assembly on the customer's part. Since hands are pre-selected and pre-mounted, customers only need to worry about creating the counter-bore to mount the insert itself within.
