Minute/Hour Hands not working

Some years ago, I purchased model #12254, and used it for less than one year in a clock enclosure that I made . I stored the mechanism carefully since then without the batteries.

I recently put the clock back together (with new batteries), but the mechanism will not run the minute & hour hands. The pendulum works, and I can turn the back dial to get the hands to move & the chimes to work. When left on its own, there is no movement of the minute & hour hands nor chimes--the second sweep works however.

Any ideas?

In rare cases with hex nut secured movements, if the hex nut is way too tight, it may restrict hand movement. I believe that the 12254 has a bushing which threads into the movement housing. Maybe try loosening the bushing ever so slightly to see if this may have an effect...

While I can not promise that this will be a "fix", I am interested to hear the results...
