I just got a nice cuckoo clock from a yard sale. It was missing its weights and need some advice on how to know the correct weight of the weights. I tried several different sizes and it took a pretty big weight [off other clocks] before it ran [after I had dismantled, cleaned, polished pivots, bushed two holes, put back together and oiled].

The movement is a 34 Regula. I would like to have some logic to the weight choice in case my work is lacking.

It is an 8 day clock and will needs weights around 1000 grams to 1500 grams each side.

A maximum of 1750 each side can be tried but the more weight you use the more it will wear the clock out and faster so you really wan the lightist that will drive it.
