Hi All, my first post to you. Daughter has a carriage clock and I can see someone has had a go at it and the pendulum is missing. Maybe we can find one through the forum. Only details I have are as follows On clock face at 12 0 clock is an elongated slot with the word WHITTINGT and WESTM on either side. At 3 c clock is another slot with SILENT CHIME. 3 key holes for the key at 4, 6 and 8 o clock. No other writting on this face. In the back on the brass plate is stamped at the bottom middle a feature of a small 1/2" clock with a number 54902 and on the right hand side a number 15 is stamped. There are 8 chimes in the back [all out of line] and it looks a splendid clock to get working again. Any help would be gratefully received. Yours, Graeme in Holmfirth.

There should be a small lever in that slot at the noon position, it will allow you to switch the type of chimes you hear from the traditional Westminster type chime to the Whittington type chime. On 3 chime clocks there is also a third choice of a St. Michael's type chime. The slot at the 3 o'clock position will allow you to silence the chime altogether if you want some quiet at night when you sleep. You can allow the chime to operate during the day by moving the selector back to the original position.

The clock sounds like a nice mechanism and probably would be well worth the money to have it professionally cleaned and at least have the 8 brass hammers realigned to the chime rods. Pendulums for the mantle and carriage clocks are fairly easy to find from a clock parts distributor such as Merritts or TimeSavers or possibly Klockit, the sponsor of this forum.

Hi, thanks for your great information and contacts for spares. I have 2 photos on my website , if you care to peruse. Can you identify the clock? Then I could buy the correct pendulum. The only info I have is as sent in previous post. Doesn't seem to be a name on the movement. Many thanks, regards, Graeme in Holmfirth.
