I have replaced movement # 10001 three times over the last year only to watch each one lose time or stop. After reading a couple of posts I wonder if I should be using a high torque movement. The longest hand is 5 inches and the second hand is 7 inches. Clock in an outdoor setting.
Any suggestions before I toss it.

If the longest hand is only 5", then you should not require a high torque. HOWEVER - a 7" second hand is quite big. The movement could be stealing power from the other hands just to operate a second hand of that size. Try removing the second hand and allowing the clock to run to see if this makes a difference. Make certain you are testing this with a brand new battery (to ensure the most power is being delivered to the movement to rotate the hour/minute hands).
