Post subject: Movement stopps going up
I have a battery operated wall clock where the hands move fine going down but stop going up right before the 8. Any ideas?

This could be one of several issues, so I will list a few general suggestions:
1) Replace the battery with a brand new one. When batteries start to loose power, it will typically show when the hand is pulled up from the 6 to 12 positions.
2) Check minute hand length from the center of the mount hole to the end of the hand. Standard movements typically can rotate a minute hand length of 7". Anything greater than that usually requires a high torque movement (which delivers more power to rotate longer hands).
3.) If the movement is secured with a hex nut, check to make certain this is not too tight. The hex nut should be finger tight. If secured too tightly, it could compromise time-keeping.
4.) Make certain the hands are not rubbing against each other, the clock face, or any glass (if applicable) of the case asembly (especially on the 6 to 12 side of the clock face).
