Post subject: Need help identifying my clock ???
Hi, is anyone familiar with the clock/clock movement makers 'Irod'? Photo's of the auctual clock are in the below link. The only markings i can see are 'Irod' on the face and on the movement itself has the numbers ' 58 01 ' . I do beleive it to be German as i have googled Irod and can be German, French or even from Switerland?? Also strikes westminster chimes each quarter. As much or any information would be highly appreciated, Thank you.
I can not find any info on the company, but it appears to be a French clock company (possibly working with Germany). The majority of assemblies I have found have been dated between the 1920's and 1940's. Those that I did find are either labeled as "French IROD Clocks" or "French/German IROD Clocks"
Perhaps books about antique European clock assemblies might prove more informative. You can also check with clock repairers from overseas. Being that this is a European assembly, it seems logical that they would come across these more so than repairers in America. Last, keep checking back here for other posts from our more knowledgeable patrons.
