Post subject: need rough valuation please, a h rodanet, signed bulle clock
Hello, can anyone please give me a rough idea how much my clock is worth, it is a bulle clock by A, H, Rodanet, signed and in pretty good condition, it also has a brass pendulum with it dunno why it is not on, it is missing the origional battery and has a conversion to run on a modern battery, thanks in advance!

In my opinion, value is a hard thing to establish. Demand is something that is always changing, and changes in demand will effect value at any time. It is for this reason (as well as others) that many clock experts will not usually offer advice in regard to clock values.
There are some things that you can do that may help you to establish an idea of value. You can always start with various books out there (see the link below for an example). Note that books will only serve as a reference for value at the time of the book's publication (and not much beyond that). You can also visit various auction sites (including E-bay) and search for assemblies similar (if not exact) to yours. This is a good way to get an idea of what the current value might be based upon current demand.
I would watch ebay. Unfortunately prices are what people want to pay.

Thanks for your comments, i cant find much simular, i once found the same clock but with no signature for 800 euros, but that one was complete this one is modified for a modern battery, yeah i understand what you mean about demand if no one wants it then its worth nothing lol!, but in your opinion is it worth more than a couple hundred pound? lol

Here are some of the ebay past sales. Would seem 200 pounds would be close.
None of those are A, H Rodanet or even the same style clock though, i have actualy found a few of the same or very simular going for 800 - 1000 i think im just going to take it to auction and see what comes of it to be honest , it seems very rare because i cant find many of them online.

Being that the case has been modified (at the very least, to accomodate a standard battery), this may reduce the value of the clock to any collector that should be seeking it.
Above all else, things such as rarity, condition, authenticity, (etc.) will not necessarily get you the most amount of money for any given clock assembly. While a clock could be valued at any price, it is not worth anything more than what any given collector is willing to pay for it.

from what I have read about these Bulle clocks, is that they are very expensive to fix. A working complete one commands a higher price. Over 300,000 were produced.
