I have a New Haven electric mantle clock that doesn't work. It hums when you plug it in but the hands don't move. Could it need an oiling or is it shot or ???. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

You could try removing the motor from the rest of the clock and then see if you can get it to 'freewheel' by spinning the motor shaft while plugged in. Working some light machine oil into the pivots may help it along.

Most New Haven electric clocks were a collaboration between New Haven and Westinghouse electric, both of whom are no longer in business. Replacement parts or motors are no longer available unfortunately.
