Post subject: New Person - Need Help with Clock Project
My son is in workshop and has clock plan to build a mantel clock, however, the plan only states he needs a 6x6” clock face, battery power quartz movement, brass pendulum. The finish size of the clock is 10-1/2 W x 16-7/8 H x 5-1/4 D. Being new at this, I’m not sure how to determine the quartz movement or the pendulum. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Unlike mechanical clocks the pendulum in a quartz movement is not used for time keeping. It is purely ornamental. Most, if not all, quartz pendulum movements have breakaway pendulum rods which can be shortened to fit your particular case. Pendulums usually are brass finished.
Likewise 6" and 6 3/8" rectangular dials are also illustrated. Various styles of clock hands are available to suit your case and dial. You only need to know the diameter of the dial time ring to order the proper size hands.
Please refer to the section under clock movements for additional information on selecting a movement, dial and hands for your project.
