Post subject: New to forum and clock repair
Hello my name is James
I have collected a few clocks over the years and have always wanted to learn to work on them myself but never had the time.
Now that I am retired I want to learn how to keep them in good working order.
I have a fairly good knowledge on how they work and am pretty good
at taking mechanical things apart and putting them back together. But
I will need to have some advice from time to time. And this looks like a good place to find the information I will need.
First I have a 3 clocks with Hermle movements
and a couple older antique New Havens . And I know that some of the needs some bushing work.
Which will be the better bushing Bergeon or KWI . And what basic bushing sizes and tools do I need to get first ? I don't want to buy a lot of things that I will never need.
Thanks for any advice James

hi
just joinedand saw your post
my advice would be to get a couple of good books local libraies (uk)
usully have got a few
as regards bushing i have always used bergeon but if you are going down that road you will need a pvot file/burnisher to file out ay wear and then burnish the pivots these are expensive new and you very seldom see them second hand except perhaps at clock fairs be carefull as they are either left or right handed you will need a left one to be used n the top of the pivot you will also need a set of broaches for opening out the holes
hope this is a start let me know if you require more info
