Post subject: Newbie Wall clock Anker \ Westminster
Hello all,
I am new to the forum and hope some will be of help. Here is my story.
I have a wall clock that was in storage for several years. It was brought back from Germany by my wife several years ago but I don't know the age or date. It says Anker and Westminster on the face so I don't know if it is an Anker clock the model being a Westminster or a Wesminster clock the model being an Anker. This igrnace on my part shows you the extent of my knowledge of wall clocks. To start I have some questions. What is the lever on the top of the clock that goes from 0 to 60 and what are the 3 key winding holes for? I know one is for the movement and one must be for the chime but what is the 3rd one for? The clock works but does not chime. I have more questions but this is a good start and hope someone will chime ( no pun intended) in
Thanks,
george

As you face the front of the movement, typically the chime melody winding arbor would be the right keyhole. The time would be the center keyhole. The hour strike would be the left keyhole. This would apply to movements Klockit currently sells. I honestly do not know if other manufactures could vary, so you may have to test this.
The lever sounds as though it might be either a chime selection lever or a chime silence lever. On current Klockit movements, the chime/silence lever is typically found on the right or left side of the clock face - not the top - so I maybe incorrect with my assumption here.
I would suggest waiting for other (supporting) posts. My mechanical movement knowledge is general at best - while some of our forum patrons have extensive knowledge. They may be able to add to, support, or debunk any of my thoughts from above.
As a side note – Puns are always welcome… even if unintended.

Anker is the brand name. Westminster is the chime the clock plays. Without a picture it hard to be sure but it sounds like you're describing a seconds hand(lever)and seconds "bit"(0-60).
