I have a wall pendulum clock with an older quartz westminster miovement with remote speaker and C cell battery. The hands were broken off and there is no center nut to hold them on. I tried a nut from a smaller quartz movement recently ordered from Klockit but the nut was too small. I also need to order hands for this clock - black spade hands 3 inch minute and 2.5 inch hour. Where can i get the larger center (open) nut for this clock and a set of hands including second hand ?

Some of the clock movements sold by Klockit do have differing hex nuts (which secure the movement to the clock face - and any potential board the face may be mounted to). While the measurements are not precise, it basically boils down to a 5/16" diameter thread versus a 3/8" diameter thread. The smaller quartz movements use the 5/16" diameter thread. Some chiming quartz movements use the 3/8".

This should be the larger size hex nut Klockit offers:

In regard to hands, we offer hands in two styles. These different styles reflect hand mounting (more specifically, minute hand mounting). Most movements we offer are referred to as "I-shaft". This designation stems from the shape of the minute hand mounting shaft portion on the center hand shaft (it is similar to the letter "I", but would look more like "l"). The minute hands themselves will have a corresponding "oval" shaped center mount hole. The other style of hand is a "push-on" style hand. These hands will have a circular mount hub for both the hour and minute hand. Once you identify which type of hand you have, we can certainly help find you a replacement. The second hand, however, may be a bit more tricky - as we do offer two different styles for those. You could purchase one second hand from each style and see which would work best (as they are not too expensive).

Thanks but I am referring to the nut that holds the minute hand on - not the one that holds the movement to the clock. Does Klockit offer an assortment of these since the ones I tried from a small quartz movement were too small for the other movement.

Unfortunately, we do not offer an assortment of cap nut/open minute hand nuts. Does Klockit offer a movement that looks similar to yours in appearance and dimensions? We do have a movement that we have offered for quite a long time (over 12 years). This movement has a remote speaker and operates off a single "C" cell battery... Perhaps the minute hand nut will work on your movement.

If you have a thread gauge, you may be able to use that to determine what type of threading you have. Shaft threading will probably be metric (although I am not positive)...

If you do not have a thread gauge, then I would try to get a precise reading of the minute hand shaft diameter (to include threads). Use a micrometer if you have access to one. We may be able to do a diameter comparison to see if we have any potential cap/open nuts that are similar. Note that this will not mean a definate replacement (as the threading on the shaft will have to match up with that of the replacement nut - even if they are the exact same diameter).

We are certainly not using any sort of rocket science here to ensure we procure a definative replacement, but who knows... Stranger things have happened...

We can certainly check into an assortment. Feel free to contact Klockit and ask for Chris (I am the only Chris @ Klockit). From there, I can take down your info and we can see what we can see what we can do.
