After the clock was stolen and returned by police, the original cupids were missing so I have replaced them with new lead-cast cupids and want to paint them so that they look like the original. I am afraid your typical gold spray paints will be too shiny and look out of place next to the other gold parts. Does anyone have any thoughts on which paint would look more antique when applied. The paint dealers have all said "gold is gold, there is no such thing as antique gold since it does not get old looking". I would prefer to spray paint them if possible but will consider other ways of doing it.

you could do imitation gold leaf available at the craft stores.

another option is the rub and buff gold leaf paint
