I have a few questions regarding the mechanics of a pendulum clock.
1) If the drive weight of the clock is too heavy, will it decrease the period of the pendulum? Would gearing the clock up further solve this?
2) Would having the pendulum extend past the pivot point to engage the escapement decrease the period?
3) Does a heavier bob on the end of the pendulum increase the period? Would making the bob heavier solve the first problem?
I have a pendulum clock I am constructing from Legos, with a 39.1 inch pendulum. The period however is only .8 seconds instead of 1.
