I have recently bought a beautiful but never restored wall clock made by the company that is now Seiko watch makers. It is very elaborate with columns, spindals and a large molded horse adorning the top plate. It has porcelain face and pendulum.
It has been in storage for many years ...was in pieces but complete and in good original condition. I have reassembled the clock after a gentle cleaning of the case with a thin furniture spray and oil/polish. It looks great and runs very well except it loses about 2 hours every twenty four. I have moved the pendulum to as high as it will go but to no effect. I sprayed the mechanism with w d 40 after rinsing it in alcohol to remove old oil and dirt. Is this something simple to fix or should I go to a local pro clock shop for a good clean and adjustment?
I paid $200.00 for it which I think was a bargain. Any comments on the clock,,,company that made it and help with my problem greatly appreciated.

wd-40 was the worse thing you could do to the clock, as it can damage the movement. Most clock repairman will now charge a large fee to clean the works of the wd-40, as it is hard to remove.

Yes I figured it would need a pro clean..the good news is I live in Thailand so it will not be very expensive. The wd 40 has only been on it for a couple of days. Not knowing much about clocks made me do it lol...it made it at least run better. So off the shop here in Chiangmai that can fix anything to do with clocks or watches. Thanks for your help.
