It is the only way I can figure out how to post (as I am not certain how some members are able to imbed an image in their post). There are free sites out there (such as Flicker) where you can post images. From that point, you can post the link to the image in your forum message so that we may view photos of your clock.
Here are the pictures of a wall clock I'd like to repair and refresh the finish. The clockwork is in watchmaker's shop for repair .I guess this is Junghans. As a violin maker and restorer I have some experience in varnish cleaning, french polish, fine wood working and etc...
I was also qurious if the basic principles in clock restoretions are same as in musical instruments. So ,I have some questions to all of you with experience in restoration works.
How to refresh the black parts? The "whipping-tops" on the bottom are missing ,should I make the same as the two on the top ?How to refresh the golden base of the side elements ( from the picture) also to refresh the black embossed figurs for better contrast?
I will appreciate evry advice concerning this project
This is a very nice clock assembly. I wish I had some experience in restoration to offer advice. Do check back with this forum to see if any other patrons may have some advice. The other thing you can do is look to contact someone who currently works in the field of restoration. I assume that furniture restorers may be able to offer some help.
