Post subject: Please help me to identify this clock...
I cannot find anything similar to this clock on the internet. All I know is it's maker Baume & Mercier and "metal dore 80" on its back. What was it used for? part of something? period? value? Anything would help.
Thank you

I am not familiar with a Baume & Mercier, but there was a company that produced watches (roughly) from the 1830's to today. This company was Baume et Mercier (which is a prominant, luxury Swiss watchmaking company). Since it is not uncommon for a watch making company to dabble in clockmaking here or there, I wonder if this could be an avenue for possible investigation. Here's some general info on Baume et Mercier...
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I am familiar with Baume et Mercier Swiss luxury watch manufacturer. I just have not seen clocks by this company nor was able to locate any catalogs or similar clocks on the Internet. Maybe I can contact the company directly and see if they could help?

I would say it would be worth a shot - as there is not much else to go off of. I also performed a search under "metal dore 80", just for the heck of it. Unfortunately, this yielded nothing in the form of clock assembly results.
The look of the assembly definately has a pre-20th century feel to it (but this is just gut instinct on my part). I'm guessing mid to late 1800's...
Please let us know if contacting the company yields any further information. I must admit that I am definately intrigued.
