Post subject: Problem with pendulum
Hi
My brother just gave me a grandfather clock (Pearl H-451).
I have a problem to start it. When a move the pandulum at the far left, it is working for 5 minutes, than it stop. Diring that time, the time on the clock move for 5 minutes!
The level is OK. I don't know if the suspension spring can be brooke? How i see it is broke?
Is there any other adjustment?
Thank you
Andre

When it is running, listen to the ticks and determine if they are even. It should tick at the same place on each side (left or right) as the pendulum swings. If they are not even, put a slight pressure on the top of the pendulum rod in the direction of the short tick. Keep trying this until the ticks are even. This is called "putting the clock in beat". This should solve your problem.

Post subject: Pendulum adjustment
Hi
Thank you, it help me to locate the problem. My clock run now for 7 to 8 minutes.
I know it is a question of adjustement, because when it run, everything is OK.
When you say to adjust the top of the pendulum rod, could you specify if it is:
anchor arm
suspension arm
the top end of the pendulum(where is the hook)
