I have a schoolhouse wall clock whose 31 day movement needs replacing. The dog on the winding spring ratchet has broken off so it can't be repaired. Replacement is the only option. Everything else about the clock is beautiful..the case, the dial, the pendulum.

The problem is, the movement is Korean, not very high quality. It has no name on it so I can 't replace it by name and I have been unable to find a replacement movement of the exact same dimensions (I have searched many, many clock parts makers as well as Ebay).

I have been able to find a few movements that would fit inside my case but then they won't find the center shaft and winding holes in my dial. On the other hand, if I am able to find a dial to fit the new movement, the dial won't fit my case (My dial is approx. 10 3/8" in diameter, larger than most schoolhouse clocks.

As I mentioned earlier, the case and rest of the clock is beautiful so I hate to give up on it. On the other hand, I seem to be rapidly running out of options. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find a movement to fit my case and dial or else find a replacement movement along with fitting dial? (I do *NOT* want to convert it to a quartz movement)! Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Take a look at #13016 from Klockit (you can type it into the search box on Klockit's website). This is a calendar regulator movement (mechanical) that is traditionally used in schoolhouse/regulator type clock cases (it is wound every 14 days). We offer a dial separately (#27905) that is 10-1/2" in diameter. Perhaps the dial could be fitted into your case (being that it is only 1/8" difference). More than likely, this movement will not accomodate the arbor holes of your existing dial - but maybe our separate dial offering will work for you. Other movements may be an option as well (when taking into consideration the inside case dimensions in relation to the size of the movement you are looking at). Alternate dials may be able to be custom punched for the movement of your selection. You may contact Klockit at any time with any specific questions. Hope this helps...

those korean movementsw were not very well made, and trying to find an exact replacement is almost impossible. You will need a new movement and dial. The klockit one would be your best bet, as they will punch the holes in the dial for you.
