Post subject: Quartz - who makes the best
I need a quartz pendulum movement for an old wall clock that used to have a bettery operated mechanical movement since I don't believe they make these old style movements any longer. I want the best quartz movement available for this sentimental clock - what is the best?

all the quartz movements are about the same. Hermle makes a quartz mechanical strike movement, if that is what you want.

I thought there was a difference in quartz manufacturers - some japanese , some chinese, some USA, etc.

I like the Seiko brand, but for $8-$12 for a movement there really is not that much difference. Some Klockit movements come with a three year guarantee. Just buy from a reputable supplier that sells quality product.
You could always buy a couple if you are that concerned.

A quartz movement is a quartz movement - manufacturer aside. There really is no quality difference between manufacturers. It all comes down to personal preference.
