Post subject: Recommended Replacement Movement
Hello,
I am currently looking to replace an electric movement which is no longer serviceable with a chiming quartz movement.
The clock is an early 50's Seth Thomas Tambour Style electric mantle clock.
Does anyone recommend a movement that fits and works well in this style clock?
Best Regards
Tom

Quartz movements are pretty versitile, so there may be several selections for a replacement. Initially, you will want to remove the old movement. From that point, you will want to get an accurate measurement of clock face thickness (to inlcude any possible board the face may be mounted to). Next, get a general idea of interior case dimensions. With a tambour, you might have some restrictions for certain (larger) movements, depending on the clock case. From there, shop various movements for the features you are looking for. Refer to movement dimensions and compare them against your interior case dimensions. Select a maximum dial thickness that will be equivelent to your clock face thickness (to include the thickness of any board the face is mounted to).
