Post subject: Removing Hour Hand from Old Seth Thomas Mantle Clock
Just acquired an old Seth Thomas Mantle Adamantine Mantle Clock that doesn't work. I'm not a clock person but it looked like a neat project. Movement is Seth Thomas not Hermle. I would like to know how to remove the hour hand so I can remove the movement and get ID number . Minute hand was secured with a tapered brass peg - no problem.
Thanks in advance for your service. I imagine this will be the first of several inquiries.

The hour hand is a friction fit on the hand shaft. Grasp the hand hub and carefully pry it upwards. Do not pull upwards on the hand close to the tip. You will only succeed in bending the hand, or worse breaking it off.
Occasionally the hand is such a tight fit on the handshaft that a slight twisting motion is required while prying upward.
