Post subject: Removing Spring from Barrel
I was wanting to know how to remove a spring from a barrel. I would appreciate any help.

flat nosed pliers.
Grab the inner coils with these and wind a bit and pull out. Hold with other hand thumb and let go.
Grab more coils and do again until all the mainspring is out.
take care - i sometimes i use gloves depending on strong/large the spring is.

You can basically do the reverse of the removal. The issue here is getting it completely in correctly so that you can insert the barrel arbor so it catches the hole at the arbor and the hole on the end of the spring catches the location on the inside of the barrel.
It can be dangerous to your hands trying to do it manually. Other wise you can get a main spring winder that will compress the sring and insert into the barrel. I did quite afew manual installs into barrels but you need to be very carful and wear leather gloves.
