Post subject: Removing Tochigi Tokei battery movement
I have a wall clock with Tochigi Tokei battery movement with a sweep second hand. Movement no longer works and I want to replace. Have been able to unthread the movement locking nut and lift up the minute and hour hands but can't seem to figure out how to get the second hand off.
There is a brass serrated knob below the second hand that I assume will allow removal but I can't seem to un-thread. I have read the assembly/disassembly material on this site but holding the brass knob seems not to thread or unthread even if I hold the time set knob on the back of the case.
Clearly doing something wrong.

On most quartz movements, the second sweep mounts onto a small pin shaft which is located inside the end of the clock hand shaft. Removal of the second hand can be done by carefully pulling off the hand. The small nut underneath the second hand is called an "open nut". This nut helps to secure the (longer) minute hand on the shaft. Once the second hand is removed, you should be able to carefully remove this nut. The hour and minute hands should be removable from this point. Then you can remove the nut/bushing which secures the movement center shaft. The link below is an example of the info above:
