Post subject: Replacing a weight screw
Hi everyone,
I have an old~ish Yantar/Jantar/Янтарь clock which doesn't work.
From my diagnosis, the problem is caused by worn out weight screw. Now, I'm not sure if my terminology is right, so I'll try to describe it - please correct my terminology
This is a screw that supports a torsion pendulum from the bottom. It has a concave tip and something (I'm guessing, a crystal?) embedded in it.
The problem is that the hole in the crystal goes very deep, so there's too much friction and the pendulum grinds to a halt very soon after I start it up. If I turn the movement sideways or upside down, the pendulum moves freely (top screw is okay).
I've thought about swapping the screws, but the top one is longer - so it wouldn't work.
How hard would it be to get the screw repaired or how expensive would it be to buy a new one (and where should I look)?
