Post subject: Replacing battery movement
Hi - I have a wall clock I love, basically a plate with spoon, fork and knife hands - the little battery box on the back is kaput. It is 2" square and takes a single AA battery. Can you tell me how to get it off the plate (it can spin around) and with what movement to replace it? Thanks!

Check the front surface of the clock assembly. There may be a brass hex nut which secures the movement box to your plate. By loosening and removing this hex nut, you should be able to remove the movement and replace it. IMPORTANT: You will more than likely have to remove the hands before you can remove the hex nut. Please refer to the link below for common quartz movement assembly instructions.
Keep in mind that your movement may be slightly different (ex: if you do not have a cap nut, then the hands are probably push-on hands). Once you remove the movement, you can take some measurements in order to determine a replacement. Overall movement size and shaft length are the main concerns.
Keep in mind that when and if you order a replacement movement, you should also purchase/select an additional set of hands (if the event should occur that the hands you currently have do not fit the replacement movement). I believe Klockit still offers the "dinner" style hands. (fork/spoon). Also keep in mind that you can contact Klockit (1-800-556-2548) for free assistance.
