Thanks for the advice. I haven't figured out how to open the face up to see if the chains are on the sprokets. I'll probly bite the bullet and check into a professional visit. Thanks for your help

OK I've done some research. The left chain in the strike chain. Because it is still slack,resting on the clock floor,it's possible that is why there is no sound. Is this correct? Will that chain lift ...
