Thanks for the reply. Yes "completely silent" was a bit of hyperbole.
I just didn't want to be able to hear the ticking in a quiet room. Sounds like there's no way to know in advance ...

I'm looking for a battery-operated clock movement that's virtually silent, meaning the 'tick-tock' of the seconds isn't audible.
How can I know this in advance about a given movement? Just choosin ...
