Post subject: Seiko 12200 Quartz movement Dual Chime
I purchased the above mentioned movement to replace the German chime-bim bam movement that gave out. I have had no luck making this thing run right, i.e. slow then correct, back and forth. Then no movement on the minute hand at times. No slippage !, I've double checked that. I put it in the clock case two days ago and have had no good results yet. I have used brand new Duracel "C" batteries. I'm about to return it.
Thanks

does the clock movement work fine outside the case, with the hands attached? Could be the hands are rubbing against the glass, or each other?

A couple of things:
1.) Try a different brand alkaline battery. Durecel (at one time) had trouble reaching the battery contacts of certain movements (due to the nature of how the battery was manufactured).
2.) Make certain the center fixation nut, which holds the movement, is not too tight. If over-tightened, it can actually restrict hand movement of the clock. Note that this would not be applicable if you had a center fixation bushing rather than a nut.
3.) Make certain the center shaft is not touching any glass (this can restrict the movement). Make certain the hands have proper clearance with each other when rotated around the clock face (use the time set wheel on the backside of the movement to verify).
4.) Contact Klockit tech for additional advice and support (1-800-556-6474). If need be, leave a message (we will return your call). You may also e-mail us directly (klockit@klockit.com)
That movement is under warranty for at least 2 to 3 years. No matter what, we can look into a replacement if all else fails.

Thanks for the replies. I seem to have it working properly for now.. I removed the Minute Hand with the Hour Hand still attached and it kept proper time. So I'm assuming as was mentioned, that the hands were touching at some point around the dial.
Thanks again,, I may get back to you ....if....
