A dear friend gave me a clock that looks like a huge pocketwatch. It says Sessions on the front, has Roman numerals, says made in Forestville, Conn, USA on the bottom of the face. The outside is brass, looks like it runs on 2 weird size batteries, and says cat. no. JM 82 on the movement back. There was a piece of paper stuck in the back with the date April 6, 1960. Is it possible to get batteries for it without replacing the whole movement? Please help!

No, it doesn't say. It looks like it takes 2 batteries, about an inch square. The wires from the mechanism go to the metal compartment for the batteries...there are 4 terminals and a metal band over the battery compartment. There is a paper label in each of the 1 inch square that reads, "Acme, Brooklyn 9, NY". I have never seen any type of battery that would fit the 2 spots. Is it possible to set up a new power source?
Thanks for answering me.

I would try calling a clock repairman to see if he might know what it could be. Some of these old batteries can be expensive, and you maybe able to replace the movement for less money.

Post subject: Sessions JM 82 Clock Battery
Hi everyone,
New to the group...thanks for having me!
I came into possession of this same clock today and there is one battery present in one of the two battery compartments.
Battery is stamped "General RG-4" and looks very similar to the shape of a barrel (like a whiskey barrel). It does pop apart into two halves...I haven't messed with it much further than this, as it appears that some acid is leaking out.
I hope this helps in identifying a modern battery source that could be used in this clock...I would love to get this one up and running as well.
